Meet Claire

Positive Reinforcement Dog Trainer, Rescue Advocate, Foster Coach, and Lifelong Dog Person

Hi, I'm Claire, and I'm a dog trainer, rescue advocate, foster coach, and, most importantly, a lifelong dog person.

My journey with dogs has taken me far beyond simply loving them. Through years of living with, fostering, and working with dogs of all sizes, personalities, and backgrounds, I've developed a deep appreciation for the relationship between dogs and their people.

I've seen firsthand that when we take the time to understand why a dog is behaving a certain way, we can create meaningful change without sacrificing the trust between dog and human.

I am a Victoria Stilwell Academy graduate, a Victoria Stilwell Positively Dog Trainer (VSPDT), and an OCN London Level 5 Qualified Professional Dog Trainer.

My rescue work has been an equally important part of my education. I am actively involved with National Newfoundland Rescue, where I serve as a Foster Coach Manager, Foster Coach, and Foster Parent.

Working with rescue dogs has taught me that behavior rarely exists in a vacuum. Genetics, environment, health, stress, communication, past experiences, and the human-dog relationship all play an important role.

Your dog isn't a problem to be fixed. They're an individual who is trying to communicate with you, and my job is to help you learn what they're saying.

At For the Love of Dog, I use positive, reward-based training to help dogs and their people build better communication, confidence, and connection.

Whether you're working through barking, jumping, leash pulling, fear, separation issues, puppy chaos, potty training, or simply want to teach new skills, we'll work together to find practical solutions that fit your real life.

I believe training should be enjoyable. Dogs shouldn't spend their lives being told what not to do, and their people shouldn't feel like they're failing because their dog doesn't behave like the dog next door.

There is always more to learn, and I am continually expanding my knowledge so I can better serve the dogs and families who trust me.

Because dogs aren't just animals living in our homes. They're our companions, our family, and sometimes our greatest teachers.

For the Love of Dog exists to help you understand them, communicate with them, and enjoy them a whole lot more.
